This series is something of a work in progress.

I've been really excited by blue in June and July 2000 and I'm really pleased with these paintings as a series. My own favourites are II, III and V. This feels like a coherent body of work and something I want to develop (see also AKB VII in Gallery 6 which has a similar feel).

I feel my painting has taken a leap with these - both in terms of composition and the use of texture (and visitors to my house have commented this as well!).

AKB IV found a home with 'Lilac Julie' over Christmas.  The interesting thing for me was for a long time I had seen the painting in a 'portrait' format.  Julie helped me see it as a 'landscape' and mysteriously a painting that was never 'quite there' became finished immediately!

AKB V has also been a long time coming!  Started in June 2000 and constantly reworked until March 2001.  This now moves me. I enjoy looking at it and connect with it in a way I didn't with previous efforts.  There is something going on here at an emotional level which I find hard to put into words...so I won't!

Following the 'On some road' show in July 2001 AKB II and AKB V were sold to friends of mine.  It really changed the energy  in my house when they went!
