I really enjoy these paintings.

The maroon/red/yellow ones get a big reaction and several people see them as sunsets.  I can see that but they weren't painted with that in mind and I can also see other things in them eg "Active II" reminds me of a volcanic crater. I once had somebody telling me that they were 'wrong' and that sunsets didn't look like that! 'Beginnings' and 'Active III' now reside with friends.  I'm glad they have good homes - both the paintings and my friends that is!

The Mirage pair were an attempt to paint something very simple and with very little form.  If I'm honest (and I am occasionally) they were probably a reaction to the sunset tag.  Not that there is anything wrong with that but I wanted to paint something that was less easy to characterize immediately and took the viewer more time to form an opinion or an image of what that painting represented to them.
